Encouraging Vocations

As Catholic men, we should encourage one another in our vocations. For many of us, that vocation is the Sacrament of Matrimony. That means being the man our spouse needs. If God has given us children, that also means being the man our children need. For others, this could mean a call to celibacy, or possibly to the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

In every vocation, men need encouragement. That is why I started a Catholic web site again. I want to do what I can to encourage, or at least facilitate encouragement. We need this. We have to be men, and we have to stop the sliding of our gender to the sidelines. Far too often, Catholic men have failed to live up to their calling, sitting there while others, usually our wives, step up and lead.

Discipleship is not passive. It is a fight, possibly the hardest one of your life. We gotta help, coach, pray, jab, push each other to success in our path to holiness. When we do, we are going to rock this world hard and shake it to the core. Buck up!

  1. Speaking as the father of one who is discerning a vocation, the best thing I did was simply to set an example of taking Jesus seriously.
